Privacy Policy

Last updated September 2026.

This explains what information Inkwell (operated by Webiconic) collects when you use the site, how it's used, and who it's shared with.

What we collect

  • Account info — name and email address, and a securely hashed password (or your Google account ID, if you sign in with Google).
  • Author info — pen name, bio, photo, social links, and anything you upload to your media library or publish as a book, chapter, or piece.
  • Order info — items purchased, order total, and, for physical orders, the shipping name, address, and phone number you provide.
  • Usage info — things like which books you've saved or liked, so those features work.

How we use it

  • To run your account, process orders, and deliver digital downloads or reading access
  • To send order confirmations, shipping updates, password resets, and other account emails
  • To let authors see their sales and earnings, and readers see their library and order history
  • To notify us internally of new orders and new authors, so we can keep things running smoothly

Payments

Payments are processed by Paynow. We don't see or store your full card or mobile money account details — only the order result Paynow sends back (paid, failed, a reference number).

Google sign-in

If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name and email address with us to create or log in to your account. We don't get access to your Google password or anything else in your Google account.

Cookies

Inkwell uses a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Who we share data with

We share only what's needed to run the site: order and payment details with Paynow to process payments, and your email address with our email provider to send account and order emails. We don't sell your data to anyone.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. You can request that your account and personal data be deleted at any time via our contact page — we'll remove what we can, though we may need to keep order records that we're legally required to retain.

Children

Inkwell isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
